What double glazing does in a Benidorm apartment
A double glazed unit is two panes of glass sealed together with a gap between them. That gap slows down heat and sound far better than a single pane. In a Benidorm flat it makes a difference all year: the bedroom stays quieter over a busy avenida, the lounge doesn't bake by four o'clock in August, and the glass no longer streams with condensation on cold January mornings.
Choosing the right glass
- Acoustic glazing: laminated glass with a sound-damping interlayer, and panes of different thicknesses so they don't vibrate together. It's the one to choose for bedrooms over main roads, bars and Rincón de Loix nightlife.
- Solar control glass: a coating that reflects much of the sun's heat while still letting the light through. It's ideal for south and west facing terraces and rooms that overheat in the afternoon.
- Low-E glass: a low-emissivity coating that keeps heat in on winter evenings. It's useful inland in La Nucía and Polop, where the nights are cooler.
- Laminated safety glass: it holds together if broken. We recommend it for ground floors, doors and low-level glazing.
These can be combined in one unit, for example acoustic glass on the street side and solar control on the outer pane. We'll bring samples to the measuring visit and explain what each one is for.

If your frames are in good condition, you may only need new glass. We measure the openings and fit new double glazed units into the existing PVC or aluminium frames. This is quicker and cheaper than a full replacement.
If the frames are old single glazed aluminium, bent, corroded or draughty, new glass alone won't fix the problem. Most older Benidorm apartments are in this position. In that case, complete new UPVC windows or thermal break aluminium windows give the full benefit. We'll tell you which applies after looking at your frames.
How we fit it
We measure every opening ourselves. Units are made to order, and on the day we fit them from inside, seal them properly and clean up. When we're replacing whole windows, the old frames go away with us.

Does double glazing help in summer?
Yes. With a solar control coating it keeps out a large share of the sun's heat, so rooms stay cooler and the air conditioning works less.
How long does it take?
Units are made to order, usually within three to four weeks of measuring. Fitting a typical apartment takes about a day.
